LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Jorge Fernandez strolls across the used-car parking lot littered with dozens upon dozens of sport utility vehicles the size of small tugboats.

SUVs like these are having a tough time selling with gas prices at all-time highs.

1 of 2 With gas at $4 a gallon, many have sat there since last summer.

"The cars are literally just sitting, and it doesn't matter how much you sell them for," Fernandez says of the SUVs and trucks nobody wants anymore.

"It's amazing. I've never seen it this bad -- ever."
Well that doesn`t seem to be true here in Utah. I still see a ton of brand new HUGE suv's on the road here. It seems like the trend for new mothers.

Honestly anyone who buys a new SUV right now is either very rich or a complete idiot.

NC has one of the highest taxes on gas. Price here was $3.89 at 5:00pm. Now, at 12:55am its $3.96. It's raised almost 10 cents in just a matter of hours. I drive a '88 4.3lt v6 Chevy Blazer and gas is killin me! Thats why I'm lookin into getting this for my graduation present:

http://www.kawasaki.com/Products/detail.aspx?id=266,

56MPG will do me a lot of good compared to 13MPG on my blazer.

Just paid 4.05 here....

cool news is that about 3-4 miles from me an oil well has just gone into production.

In doing some research, I just found out that there is an oil well half a mile from me...

I should start digging out back - with 8 acres of land my chances should be high

Apart from the middle east, which has cheap petrol for the obvious reason. The USA has almost the cheapest petrol in the world because youd Governmnet subisdises it so much, comparitively (albeit via my rough calculations)..

Australia/Japan: $6.50 / Gallon
India/Canada: $6.25 / Gallon
UK $8.00 / Gallion

So stop whinging

yea we got a crazy Governmnet they may subisdises? but on the other they take it back in spades by taxing the oil company's and fuel tax on top of that.

so on one hand they may give it to the oil company's $$$$$$$$ but on the other hands they take it back big time as will.

keep in-mind if the cost of fuel go up i do mean way up! new oil well be coming out of the ground here in the U.S, then the stockmarket will crash soon after that point, more money spend on fuel to live on and less on products or travels.

i mean if some one like to travels to U.K from the U.S it would cost a lot more then going price now and it still going sky high. fuel cost is eating up fun & enjoy time that money was meant to be use.

my area USD-20.00 get about 5gal of unleaded gas
i like it 1.80 a gallion or 2.20

It's just irritating that they have such a monopoly on an essential product. The oil companies have worked tirelessly to prevent alternative energy sources and now they are raking in the moolah and sticking it to the poor american.

rich people don`t give a shiz about gas prices.

Because of gas prices everything else is going up here....except the wages.

50% fuel tax + 17% VAT

we pay way more in tax alone than US peeps do for the whole thing.

haha they are saying the prices are going to drop to insanely low.

wait until chevy releases the volt.....if they do it cheap enough (around 20-25k) then regular cars are going to become way cheap.

If those kind of cars catch on...we are looking at being extremely independant of the middle east's black gold.

let see go into black with a loan and buy a new car but then again buy a good use car for less money and save on fuel on mileage. shop around

one have to watch out with car dealers trade in not really good! reason they may say they take off usd-2.000.00 on a the loan for a trade in! but they sneaky they will add-in 2.000.00 on top of the price for the new car.
