Wiki has a very good article on radiation... I guess it depends on how much and how long you’re exposed to it.

i guess it depends on the person.

Ide imagine a big muscley person would last a bit longer than a skinny guy. But knowing radiation... that probably doesnt count for anything ;P

Radiation is all around us at all times, there are different types of radiation however, the worst is gamma radiation, the radiation that was spread with the radiactive fallout of Tjernobyl. Which is still present in deadly doeses in the north parts of Sweden. In these areas it's adivced to not eat anything that grows on the ground and be restrictive in where you spend your time outside. However there are people living in the area around tjernobyl even today. Mainly old ladies that moved back after the the incident and are actually alive, but they would probebly die right after if they left the area. And they can probebly say good by to the possibility of any more children.

I doubt that extra muscles would do much for you as Gamma radiation goes through pertty much everything (besides very thick lead because of it's density, but lead itself isn't that healthy)

Actually whether it's fat or muscle immediate radiation fallout would only penetrate roughly 4 inches. So being larger would protect more vital organ tissue and increase your odds of surviving past the initial fallout. That doesn't mean there won't be side effects or issues though.

The radiation of radoactive fallout doesn't travel that far compared to the actual radiation of the core (take Tjernobyl for example). However the reactive fallout that comes with the explotion travels extreeme distances through winds, these particles are extreemly small and can easaly be taken in by breathing, eating and causes damage directly to the internal organs or get stuck to skin and so on. In these cases the body mass of a person doesn't really matter. However with background radiation it is more likley there will be a slight effect of body mass as it's in very very small doses.

Edit: There are also different types of fall out, some are worse then others. The body mass only real difference would be to give you a slight delay but the fall out doesn't disapear over time.

They used to do nuclear tests over in Nevada and a lot of people here developed lung cancer because of the radiation carried by the wind.

there would be blood poison if it get into the body and spared through out all the organs do to the very large dead cells breaking down inside the body. thats only if you hit by a very large does of it a nuclear bomb gone off near you.. X-Ray medic mechanical system is not check all the time it can give a bad amount when in use should always have a tuneup they go out of lineament all the time.

body mass really don't matter much take longer to die from it, but will not save your life having a larger body mass

a 180bls man vs a 600bls man its true a 180bls man may die off faster but the 600bls man will still die off anyways he may have a larger amount in his body too.

radiation never leaves the body, say your upper layer skin cell falls off your body the new skin taken it place will have radiation in it too, maybe not same about but its still there, but the body still feed blood into the area and out through out the body

Yeah studies belive that around 1000 have gotten cancer because of the Tjernobyl fallout that hit Sweden.

Nice info there Will!

And something else that can cause blood poisining and nerv damage is the metal that shields Gamma rays, in other words lead. But it's still better then the radiation.

the hospitals use lead jackets they have cloth wrap the lead inside them so it don't touch the body or skin.

you can handle lead sinkers for fishing with! don't leech into the body, but one should wash their hands when handling lead metal, paint, clay jars, dishes that have lead in them were ban do to it leek into food and drinks do to health reason, can do brain damage and kill cells in the body should be treated as handling poison same way.

think of lead metals that sweat and leave a film on the surface of the metal one should always wash their hands and never let food touch anything that has lead in them

radiation exist as waves of alpha or gamma particles. it's wavelength or frequency can be measured .. but the actual amount ... ?

From doing a quick google search, i think theres a few different measurements.

But one way ive heard of, is using a Geiger counter. Can't quite remember the measurement it uses, but i think its the one that makes those weird ticking/beeping noises.
