Help me out here, just chosen my major assignment question for American Popular Culture, question specifically is
Political Scandals, political assassinations, and political crisis have long been a part of American Popular Culture. Consider a major political scandal, political assassinatin, or political crisis in terms of popular portrayal (through film or literature) and the actual history. Be sure to discuss not only the portrayals and real events, but also the underlying values expressed in these portryals. [sic] That said, id like to do something that isnt that commonly known in depth about, to put it bluntly, they tend to take your word for things more if they dont know about it themselves, so that rules out the Lewinski Scandal, JFK assassination, watergate, cuban missile crisis, 9/11 etc etc So im trying to think of some lesser known political crisis, scandals and the like that have been portayed in the popular portrayal in film or literature, any ideas? The thought crossed my mind about doing the black hawk down incident, contreverisal to go into somalia in the first place, the subsequant incident, the portryal by Mark Bowden in the book, the complete disregard for historical accuracy in the movie and the subsequant game series...... Yeah ive seen it, and we have to watch it for Post 911 Popular Culture later on in the topic however gun control or lack thereof isnt really a political crisis as such, well not for the subject purposes anyway...
