Cry Windows XP crashing while loading

Hi guys well since last night my PC has sytarted crashing occasionly while its loading windows XP. I havnt installed anything new onto the PC. Only way i can get on is, let it crash, then select last good config. then it has to check the disk. Then it loads windows and i get a error report which takes me to this information.

An unknown error occurred in the CD Recording Engine driver (AFS2K.SYS). This driver is loaded during startup and the problem may still occur even if you are not currently using CD Recording Engine product.

The AFS/AFS2k driver is a part of a CD Recording engine from Oak Technology, Inc., (now Zoran, Inc.), maintained by Simpli Software Inc. This CD Recording engine is used in several software applications. Your computer may have been shipped with one of these applications.

Problem Resolution:


Microsoft is currently not aware of a specific solution for the problem that you reported, however a product update which may increase stability is available from Simpli Software Inc. and can be downloaded at http://www.simplisoftware.com/Links/DrvDownloads/.

If this problem continues to occur with the latest product updates for the CD Recording Engine we recommend you obtain assistance and troubleshooting information from Simpli Software Inc.. For more information, see the Simpli Software Inc. Web site.

you could try use run type into it:
1.) chkdsk /f (fast scan 3-step it scan)
2.) chkdsk /r (longer scan 5-step)

press Y then you restart the system up.

if you have system restore enable you could try to use that go back 2-5 days try less goback into time.

you using a software to write your cd with it could be a driver or a icon near the clock is making it crash. the system loads up and this icon kick in, roxie did this to me i got another Cd-writer software to use no more crashes. its butting loadup time and making it crash. believe this or not you can disable it RUN msconfig lookup tap says "startup" click-on this and look were your Cd-writer software .exe is listed uncheck it. it will still work only the icon will not longer be listed by clock. after you uncheck it press ether ok or apply then restart you system.

you could go on ahead and instill thier drivers they have there for you they maybe updated to the ones you have.
go on and use them drivers they have for you.

Thanks for help m8. Installed 4.10 drivers and problem seems to have gone away

some times the writer (don't matter who software) goes bad. will anyway happy for you. np
