Formatting a harddrive...

I goto CMD, type FORMAT D:

i get this error :S

The type of the file system is RAW, Please use the /FS switch to specify the file system you wish to use on this volume

Any ideas? i just want a partition - 30gb which i can store my stuff on. I dont know about file systems etc, but aslong as it stores my files, i am fine.

I am using Windows XP Pro.

all sorted, i right clicked the drive then FORMAT, it had all the options sorted out for me, i clicked ok, and now its all working fine. Thanks to anyone who was trying to help, i hope this topic can be some use to someone in the future

most case it up to the user what the letters be for the drive you can set it as you like.

i have it set this way:
A-Drive floppy
D-DVD/Cd player
E-DVD/CD writer double layer writer
F-HHD
S-Drive zip 250mb floppy

nah.. minez not like that.. C:/ is primarey and D:/ is for other stuff like videos ect and it is a hard drive

lol then u havent seen mine, 200 gb 4 HD split up to 50, then there are other stuffs to .. got mine up to from A to G
