SHOCKED Liberal Party officials have called in federal police to find hackers who posted links to sickening sex sites on one of the party's web pages.

The website, set up by the Professional Alliance, a business branch of the Queensland Liberals and authorised by state director Geoff Greene, contains links to thousands of violent sex images, many involving children.

The site was being used to call for volunteers to help the Liberals in the state by-elections in Chatsworth and Redcliffe on August 20.

"You are kidding me," was Mr Greene's initial reaction when informed by The Sunday Mail.

"Somebody has obviously hacked into it . . . I am going to have to call the cops. It will be closed immediately ."

Porn operators hijacked the site by signing on to a forum and including contact details and directions to their own websites.

Despite the site's claim to be regularly updated, the links have been in the public domain since at least April. The most recent – and most graphic – signed up on Tuesday.

Mr Greene declined to comment on why the website forum had not been checked by Professional Alliance staff since April or whether they had a responsibility to ensure pornographic material was not posted.

In the website's welcome, the Professional Alliance is noted as the winner of the 2004 Liberal branch of the year and says "our goal is to provide you with more information . . . that we hope will make you want to become more involved with us".

Mr Greene said the Professional Alliance was the only unit of the Queensland Liberals that had its own website.

He said the site was closed yesterday and a complaint lodged with federal police.

Deteective Senior Sergeant Jon Rouse, operations leader of police child-sex-crime unit Taskforce Argos, said investigative techniques were available to determine who posted the offensive material.

although i do like the fact that noone said anything considering its been up since april, its probably the reason the liberal party cant win an election, there to busy "monitoring" their site.
