I use a gig personally on 98SE with a 1 gig min and max swap file....

This is very interesting because Win 98(SE) can't "see" more than 512MB RAM. Strictly speaking, your machine shouldn't be working at all since all the essential system memory addresses will have been consumed preventing you from opening any other programs.
