In my day we called them Macpherson struts, and they were cool!!! real COOL!
nice and shiney now Steve, but wait half a mile and they'd be covered in road kill, and dirt..
some guys cover them in kitchen plastic, but thats too much unless your off to a car show

real nice can't beleive how small those top screw holes are though???

The thing I like most about them, unlike other coilovers, these ones are stainless steel and withstand over 500 hours of continuous salt spray without any rust or corrosion. That's great for here in MN where all winter they salt the roads.

Yeah thats a massive plus. I've been looking at a lot of progress threads lately where people have been fixing rust issues with their cars, so thats one less thing to worry about for the future.

I did have some help for this one.. One of my work buddies has a garage with more tools then most mechanic shops. The coilover job was surprisingly very easy and only took us 30 minutes per strut after we got a system going.. Where the help and his shop came in handy was when we broke all 4 swaybar bolts off trying to install new bushings. I REALLY hate rust. We had to drill out all four and re-thread everything with new bolts.

ergh thats a pain. I've seen a lot of people doing rust treatment on their cars lately. If you havent already, spray some anti-rust stuff on there.

Good stuff. at least you're having fun.

me and dad are trying to get a 2003 Kia sedona running just so we can have something to drive.

but the motor's toast on it. when we bought it, it wasn't running and we knew there was the chance we would have to buy another motor.

so we yanked the motor out....
turns out, the air pump locked up on it and broke the pulley which got jammed in the timing belt and threw the motor off timing which caused the valves to come down and punch a hole right thru the top of piston heads...

so now we gotta find a motor somewhere.

Hmm you learn something new every day It probably doesnt last as long as the 'paint on' rust protection thats available on the market today though, being a liquid/oil

After I remove any bolt/nut from my car it gets soaked in some PB Blaster before going back in. That takes any rust off and also protects it from more rust. It also makes removing the parts much easier in the future.

Over the winter I might do some work. I need a new shift fork, shift selector, throw out bearing, throw out bearing fork, 3rd and 4th gear, 3/4 syncro and a new clutch. I might replace 2nd gear and the syncro while I am at it also. The only problem i've ever had with this car was with the shift fork.. But that's because I beat the piss out of it WOT (wide open throttle) shifting more then I should have.. I will be putting in a billit shift fork next time though and some cryo treated gears
