Spawn Help
I put two betas of my new maps up on server last night whilst I was at work.
When I got back I had an MSN message waiting for me that relayed my fears. People spawning on Donkey Kong 2 immediatley fall to their doom. Now, there is enough gap between the spawn point and the floor they spawn on to resolve this issue so I am somewhat dissapointed that this appears to be happening. Two reasons could be that people are trying to move as they spawn and walk off but as far as I am aware all spawns point toward a few feet of free space, or second that a spawn mightn't be aligned just right and you slip down a gap. Now then. When I test the DM map (which has 32 possible points) I find that far from spawning randomly each time, I always always always spawn in exactly the same space. Panther and I found also that unless we were both spawning simultaneously on a DM map of mine, that we continually spawned at the same spot most of the time. In the old Med there was a definite Primary Spawn marker which I quickly learned to stop using as it is impossible to test maps without the random element plugged into as you suicide to try out new spawns for position/glitches/aesthetics etc. Is there anything I can do to make my map testing and actual gaming follow the universally desired pattern of random spawning (in the context of the design)? I have tried this map many many times and have never ever ever fallen to my doom so the news that at least one spawn is causing the trouble is a pain made doubly worse by the kack-handed appearence of a real flaw in Novas programming which means I have to generally release a map before I can troubleshoot its properties. Please help you buggers.... |

No.
The map is on multi-levels. There are 32 possible spawns. Everytime I have tested the map, falling to my doom is not an option because it doesnt happen. Therefore either it only happens if you are joining a game and not hosting. Or there is one or more spawns not set just right. The problem being that when I test a map and suicide I will always always always spawn in the same damn place which means that map testing the thing that looks right in the editor is now futile and impossible without a full server of 32 people. Which is in any respect. Fkkn pants. |

i think it could be possible that lag causes this.
i believe u have the z's and allignment right so the only thing i can think of is that maybe if the player lags when the server thinks the player is on the platform but they are not, so effectivley thinks the player did not hit a solid object , thus they fall to their doom :/ well i dunno jus thinking the creative always get punished |
