Confused Will a NVidia 8800GTX run DFLW?

My brother is building a new gaming PC, and asked me a question I could not answer. We have heard that some of the newer video cards will not run older games like Delta Force Land Warrior. We play both DFLW and DFX, so he wants a card that will run both games. Will the nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX card run Land Warrior? Is anyone actually using that card with LW? I use a GeForce 7600 GS and it runs both games flawlessly.

Thanks for any input,

what windows OS you be using with the new computer?

Windows Vista? to play the game

i don't see any reason why the video card would not handle DFLW it should without any trouble at all.

No, he will be using XP Pro; we know VISTA will not run the DFLW right. He also is still trying to decide between a Pent. 4, 3.4Ghz processor, or jumping to a Dual Core, or Quad Core.

I had problems with newer nvidia drivers distorting the sky on LW as you come up out of water, but the newest ones for the 7600 seem to have fixed that.

Does the GeForce 8800 work with DFLW?

IS ANY LAND WARRIOR PLAYER USING THE GEFORCE 8800 CARD? I understand putting an older card in and the newer card as well is an option, but a hassle. I am trying to find someone who definately knows if the GeForce 8800 will run DFLW correctly without distortion. Using my brothers older card is NOT an option, as it is buringing out, and is litterally the final straw that convinced him to build a new gaming mechine from scratch. Besides, his old card is an AGP, whereas the motherboard he ordered is a PCI Express. I can testify from experience that the GeForce 7600 GS runs both DFLW and DFX perfectly. At the same time I can testify from experience that the 6600 and 6800 series with some of the newer drivers distort the sky horribly as you come up out of water, while serveral of the older drivers like the 81.94 ran LW perfect but distorted some of the objects on DFX. I had to keep trying different drivers for the 6000 series, until I found the 169.21 which turned out to be the best to for both LW and DFX, tho there are still some very minor distortions on DFX. When I upgraded to the GeForce 7600 GS using the 175.16 drver I WAS PLEASED to find that it ran both games perfectly.

AGAIN I ask is anyone actually using the GeForce 8800 with both DFLW and DFX and how well does it run?

Might wanna make sure your DFLW ports are forwarded BB (although I never had to do that for LW - only DF1).

Here's a RealTek patch for LW I found:

Or you could try Pinger...
