Read and weep

While the UK and in fact many countries are playing around with connections in the 1Mbps to 8Mbps area, Hong Kong Broadband has pushed a symmetric 1Gbps (1000Mbps) service out to consumers. The service will cost $215 (roughly £120) per month. The service is set to be available 800,000 households out of the 2.2 million in Hong Kong, and is based around the same Metro Ethernet infrastructure used to deliver existing 100Mbps ($34) and 10Mbps ($16) services. The roll-out means over 10,000 Cisco LAN switches and 800 Cisco routers are being installed in buildings, with Ethernet cabling between the LAN switch cabinet in the building and the apartments

i want to move there

Now for them to just get it in the US...for some reason I don't think certain entities want us to have faster internet...

Far East and some countries in Asia, are way ahead of us in telecommuncations fields. Part the reason is some of them started with Fiber Optics

I don't really care if we get faster broadband or not. I live out in the country and can only get around 24.0 kbps dail up anyway. They'll never offer it out here. If they do it will be many many years from now.

I used to live out in the boonies troj. I was looking for some DSL, but no one carried it. So I complained A LOT to the companies that offered it. Low and behold, 6 months later (after getting cable internet...faster anyway) they got DSL out to my area. If you bug 'em enough, they'll lay the lines just to shut you up

I just had a new phone line installed last week and had my name put on a list for DSL with Bellsouth. They called me the next day to tell me they don't offer it out here and they don't have an eta for it.

I'm only 15 minutes from the City.

I worked with satelite internet in Iraq, and it worked great fro surfing, dont play game's on it, you'll have a terrific ping, due to the time it takes for the signal to travel.
