MED crashes.

If I return to a map that had a tileset in it I cannot get the tileset to appear.
When I click the map tag where tilesets are controled from in order to load them back in, well, it just doesnt work.

I have to make a seperate file and load the tileset in from scratch.
This is pants enough but if once I have done that I then go to general information the whole damn thing crashes.

This happens in both current versions available.

Anyone else had crash problems?
It doesnt do it if I dont use tilesets but whats the fecking point in them if they break it?????????????

hi m8

yeah this is kinda stoopid, the whole tile thing.
but there is a way of getting it to work.

one idea was to do the tiles as the very last thing, therefore there is no need to reload it :/ - not my idea of doing though.

the tiles get saved as 'mapname.til' in ur bhd folder when u save and export btw.

the only way i know of getting the tile menu up is to select a tile set from the general information screen.

if then u save and return to the map you need to:

Edit > General Information
(u then see the tileset u originally chose)
change to a different tileset > hit OK
go to Edit > General Information
and reselect your original tileset > hit OK

then you will see the correct tiles you put in the map.

in the tile menu on the left you can manually save and load your tileset but i do not believe this is necessary.

there must be a shortcut key combo to bring this menu up but i cannot find it.

to exit from the tile mode you need to enter insert mode.

fiddly - yes
stoopid - yes
works - yes :/

on your other point - crashes - i have had probs with the program quitting when ive been going to the Gen Info screen but this is totally random from what ive seen, not just with tiles. it happens mainly when there is nothing on the map and i access the Gen Info screen several times in a short space of time.

Thanx.
Of course in a map that was tiled, nipping into the GI section causes crash so its a big no no.

Im well fed up, cos I have been working on a version of big city blues but with those samey terrains and lack of certain types of objects, not doing it with the new tileset takes away from the point of it all.

Oh well.

I have been having this problem for sometime also. You open a map and make an adjustment then move somewhere else on the map and hit eidt item attributes and whamoo it crashes. Anyone out there have some knowledge of why tis happens.

When I work on my med I don't run any other programs.

mine always worked ok until i updated windows XP from retail. maybe SP1 and later.

but it would only crash for 1 day. next day i would use it and it worked fine.

this scenario happened 3 times. each from a format and clean windows install.
