MOD Making

I guess this would be the best place to come, but i need some help with making new weapons. I know you need 3ds max or a similar program, i will get it soon. Can i create weapons with just the oed (object editor) and could i be pointed off in the right directon? where do i start?

You cant create anything with the Object editor, It just gets your models in a workable format for BHD, It like tweaks the object like editing when your Low object detail kick in ect.

know any thing about moding? such as poly counting, then skining the weapons?
