Read the book or see the movie first?

If theres a movie youd like to see coming out based on a book, do you read the book first then see the movie? See the movie and read the book or just see the movie?

i think that if you see the film first, you dont use your imagination when reading, you effectively just picture the actors and all of the film as you saw it at the cinema.

if you read first then you get your interpretation, and someone elses when you see the film.

you could see it totally different in your own head if you read it first

i'm not a big reader by any stretch of the imaginiation (never read a book unless it was for school). but i made an effort to buy the Davinci Code and read it before the film comes out. i think i made a good decision

up until 2 months ago, my choice would be see the film only.

Well I do it simultanously! Read a couple of chapters of book and then see some movie!

Book and then movie of course.

I agree with Steve.
That is why reading Harry Potter is such a joke for me.

I would watch the film first, then read the book.
But it would be more amusing if you read the book, and then watch the film.

well, reading the book first is surely the best choice, as steve said, you can figure the whole thing out with your own imagination, THEN you watch the movie, and see how the director came out with this

although, it WOULD be the best choice, most of movies ive seen ive been aware they were inspired by a book only when i saw it in the ending titles(??? maccheroni english sorry)

i cried my soul (ever had one?? hahaha!!!) when i knew that movies like Fight Club and Trainspotting were inspired by books, and read them just AFTER watching the movie, and, yes its not the same thing, at least you imagine the characters with actor's faces.....READDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!

anyway, certain movies are real masterpieces, like you read the book and say "noone can make a movie out of this", and the day after you go to the cinema and astonish....

the thing that sucks the most are books inspired by movies, all writers that do such a thing should go writing down trial's words, that's their place
