CPU usage

can anyone tell me why when I start up my game BHD or Doom3 , I would alt tab out and open my task manager it shows my cpuusage % at 100 %.
Im told this isnt good or right.
It is only game playing that would cause this, what could I do to change this or correct this.
My system is
AMD 64 3400+
1024mb DDR 400 pc 3200 corsair
ATI Radeon 9800 pro 128 mb all in wonder.

hmmmm.... go down to where you c your time and c if ther is a exessive amout of programs running, close out ones like quicktime, ipod, ect.

I did that, but if you open your task manager while playing a game, it shows the CPU at 100%. I alt tab out and then hit ctrl alt delete to bring up my task manger.

i think most games run at 100% cpu.
why do u think thats bad/wrong?

Yeah. While the games aren't written in Assembly, I think the DirectX libraries were, so they're squeezing every last clock cycle out of the CPU. It feels really good to write something that is completely efficient, but using Assembly can be really annoying.

I just checked with others and they are only using 50% of thier CPU.
I was also told over on the AMD forum that no one should be using 100% of thier CPU.

you will see that whenever you load a program, the cpu will go to 100%. the person who told u that a cpu shouldn't go to 100% is talking B.S.

it is very common for games to continually run at the maximum it can.
