Angry Vista Review for the Gamer

well i cant believe i fell for the general beta release
THERE ARE GOING TO BE MILLIONS of unhappy customers
BANGING on microsofts door when they release this dung heap.

constantly being asked do you want to continue
constanly having to activate the task manager
constantly being told you dont have RIGHTS
constantly being told your software does not work on this platform....
constantly finding out your software vender or hardware
vender does not have an update to the software for your
version or a driver for your hardware that vista capable

absolutly NO spacial orientation I.E. programs are activated where scrole bar is off screen rather than fitting the viewing area... you have to double click the top bar or minimize /maxamize bar or button to make it fit
point and click on help menue to left of help is activated
cant choose a different store folder for microsoft mail
cause the folder is not empty

all in all a total lack of profesionalism .

i loaded all my nova games bhd/ts and JOE and they all seemed to work ok. had a little fun playing bhd/ts again...but beware some games may not work.
still got BF and BF 2 to load and many others will post a reply for the results

yes its a beta but hey dont think much will change but we will see with RC1 later this year

Yeah, that is VERY annoying. I went through it awhile ago and found what you said to be true. almost every file needs to be 'verified'.

Did you also know that if a driver isn't ms signed that you cannot install it at all? That's really dumb.

i think that is great tbh.
it will cut out 99% of problems. when stuff goes wrong, ppl automatically say "windows is s***" or "f*** microsoft", when most of the time is because of rubbish drivers that are incompatible or incomplete or not properly tested. real smart move from Microsoft

personally i think MS is fubaring really big, punishing the average customer to crack down on criminals i had to dis inherit privilages to get my file to save on the c drive even with admin rights but that was just for that one file.too much restriction on the user. i have 100 GB missing from my
C drive recycle bin did not return it to the HDD.
milkshape3d will run but not register simalar problem with other programs as well. XP is a great os but sp2 becomes un stable after a couple of months. i was hopeing that longhorn would cure a lot of problems but the way it looks they are just
going to multiply i cant wait for rc1 to come out so i can see if they wised up and actually fixed a few things and perhaps venders release patches...

we're talking about the Beta right? and you're syaing stuff isn't working? especially software that has not been made / tested with Vista?

i wouldn't worry too much BSF. it will be better on release i'm sure.

i'd say just use XP, but if you're having problems then try Unix hehe.

had my xp sp2 on since last september / october iirc, not formatted since and things are running fine

Point taken, but what about the people like me or you that know this, and might not care if it's signed or not? I have had quite a few drivers that have not been signed (esp old hardare) with drivers that don't have native windows xp drivers, but they worked great. I think there should be a hidden setting to shut it off and allow the techie to bypass this.

well im thru with my review here for a while i backed up my files gave microsoft a piece of my mind formated my hdd and reinstalled XP PRO SP2and i am back up and running.
games will probably run ...all my nova's did there were a lot
pains in the bottom side with vista some games will not runn.
thats going to be a given. i have vista on my backup computer i may try some of the other popular game later to see how they fair but i need a bigger hdd for that machine.
boy was Vista ever a horrific experience installing and using.
microsoft has got thier head up on this one...

will some time ago i read Windows Vista is going to whole new ball game, unlike other windows OS everything has to be made to work with Vista only.

you can't even use programs you love to use like they was made for windows 2000 in windows Vista? reason they remove that part of it.

there going to be 6-7 version of windows Vista to buy each cost more then the cheaper ones.

sample:
Windows Vista Home
Windows Vista small Business
Windows Vista Corp
Windows Vista Professional
Windows Vista licensed
Windows Vista It
so on..............

personnally i only wish they came out with a upgrade package for windows Xp i'll buy it. this Windows Vista i don't care much for it.

they should be releasing the Windows Xp SP3 soon anyways

Well just wait until 2007 for Windows XP SP3 for Home Edition and Professional, that will be half of Vista I can imagine (without the stupid limitations... hey I know the beta sucks now).

In late 2006 Windows Vista Business and Enterprise will come out, and in early 2007
Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, and Ultimate will come out.

Life's too short to live on unsigned drivers...

it the same thing like side step dance, you only wish you had no feet at all. the other partys your dancing seem to find your feet every time.

you know everything started out with windows 2000 then things really started to work great, now why can't they by now startout with a whole new windows XXXXX system without using older windows version to base it on.

i think they using windows xp to save cost and time, but i really wish they drop it totally and startout alnew type of windows OS totally new no left overs from older version
