Although we may now measure certain things using the metric system, the old imperial measures are alive and well and surprisingly at least locally, being used more and more by younger people.

I think those imperial measures are part of what makes us who we are as a nation and they have a very strong hold on our national indentity.

We have always here in Britain moved between using both imperial and metric measurements and I see no reasonin future for us not to continue to do so.

Trying to get us all to think and in this case, measure things the same as everyone else in Europe has quite recently received a well aimed kick in the pants, witness the rejection of the European "constittution" and besides aren't our differences the source of much joy that makes travelling between say Sweden and the U.K., much more interesting?

Warm Regards

Hehe yeah I know you guys use both, quite supprising that the younger people are using the imperial system, I guess they want to keep the heritage! Which is good, I also like that there are cases when Metric is used, makes it alot easyer for us Swedes, but its very true, you shouldn't follow everyone, you should keep what you have if you enjoy it, its good that the chance for that is still present in EU even if it seems to be moving the other direction with the consitustion (i dislike it) and a joint defence effort. Although the defence system would still be quite independed but obligated to intervien if EU says so, which might be bad if the opinion goes in the other dirrection EU politicians decide.

I would defenetly want the specipic british aspect of GB or i could go somewhere else in europe and experience the same thing and that would be a big disapointment and i'm glad that it is not the way, that you can experience unquie things in every one of the countries in Europe and experience the differences!
