Post why claymores?

i'm getting really fed up with all those clays

i can see they are of certain use to a sniper securing his spot, OK, but....

clays in narrow alleys, clays in armories, clays here, clays there...

IMO they are cheap and really lame kills.
i wonder if people use them because they think it's funny () or because they want to get a few extra kills...

the problem could be that there arent enough alternatives for tertiary weapon....

now what i'd like to know from the community: am i the only one who thinks so? and if not, why havent i found any server that disallows them?

and above all, what do you people think about claymores in general?

sorry for ranting, but i had to vent a little

Don't bash Claymore's, its part of the game. There not cheap lame kills. It takes skill to place them in a spot where they cant be seen and where there is alot of enemy traffic. Everybody gets killed in this game just move on. Dont whine about it. Im sick of whiners that cry when they get sniped, thumped, or step on a clay. That is this game get over it!

Actually, now that I think about it, it IS pretty funny when you come face to face with some spray and pray king with his M60, he mows you down, and you see him keep running past your body while you wait to respawn. Then you see your name highlighted in the upper right hand corner and hear an explosion. That's very satisfying, and fairly hillarious to me.

Clays are a really big pain in the arse.
Erm.
Thats why I use them.
Nothing more satisfying than seeing someone blown from a ladder cos you placed a suprise there.
Its war and you should excercise caution.
Of course its lame.
Lame is the game, when you want to win.
You wont find me getting my knife out just cos someones runnign at me with one.
Pop Pop Pop with a pistol or if I want to make doubly sure, woooooosh kablammo with the AT4 (now much sexier than before)
I was a gunner in LW and snipers called me lame, mainly cos I could shoot them without a scope from some distance.
Conversley I thought they were lame, hiding somewhere and using a magnifying glass to make it easier.
So, two lamos playing a gamo. Thats why I love DF.

okok
first: sorry for whining, but i had to get rid of that
second: after reading your replies and thinking a bit about it, i'm somewhat less biased against clays.

but that doesn't change anything that they are used too much. i didn't count, but i think i died by more clays than by players today. and i don't run around blindly.

PS: call me stupid or anything, but i will never use them

and zza1pqx, i actually did pull out my knife in df2 (but in BHD it just takes too much time)

I love clays. Once LW came out and CQB I was a clay-whore. I even had a macro set that said:

Have a Nice Clay!!! :-)

They are a great defense. And Offense.

man claymores are cool you got to watch out for them too you can blow them up if you see them or let them be lowcraw by them they will not blowup.

as for the area one can set them up any were you like them to be if you think some one will come by them.

be thank full Nova did not or have never added into the weapons section for land mine they lay low under the ground about 6-8 inch's you talk about how a pain in the nexk claymore are thank god there no land mine's that be hell.

"claymore":
Good point: kill other team, lay them in-grassy area/dark area to help hind them.
option: lay them were other team or player come by them
drawback: lowcraw by them not blowup or kill.easy to be seen if not in a grassie area.

"Land mine's"
good points: kill other team (real world kill all good and bad sides) hard as hell ever to be seen.some metal & some plastic.
drawback: can't lowcraw by them anything lay heavy on them blowup 3.Lbs"boom",can't be seen at all maybe a light color in the ground area if locky to see, sandy area no luck winds mix it up look same all over.

who know why nova never added Land mine's in we never know. Most of them army's around the world don't care and use them a lot, very small amount of countrys have banned them for use, but on most part alot more use them still.

I hate clays, I am always the one to find them. They can be in the middle of no where and ill find it. I can usually get away from them in dflw or tfd but not in bhd. If you find one your dead. I don't use clays nor am I against people using them. I don't think they are cheap, but I don't think you should be able to carry more then 2 clays at a time like in lw.

I dont mind them much, i just wish we could choose different or more types of weapons per character,if you snipe ,your kinda stuck with them.which to me means ,you dont have much choice but to use them as another weapon.or have 1 less advantage than another person you are playing against .that will most likely end up killing you with one.....

Crawling by clays doesn't work in BHD. I know it does in all the others, but it shouldn't. "Oh that guys crawling. I'll let him slide and kill the next guy that runs."

clays are cool...on bhd its funny while sniping from a roof top when you hear the bang cause someones tried to sneak up a ladder behind you and gets blown away...i get a bit miffed when running about hunting people only to come face to face with a clay...sorta.."oh sh*t" but its all part of the game and fair play to anyone that gets kills from them..those around a PSP are bloomin annoying espesh when you rush in spraying and no-ones about but mr claymore lying in wait..lol...to me they are as good a kill as anything else and with some good thinking and positioning they are used to maximum effect....plus they've saved my ass a few times...i think the worst ive been killed by one on bhd WAS trying to lie down and crawl passed one...got the shock of my life 1st time round...and jumped a blinkin mile..lmao

if you practise enough it aint that hard taking out claymores. if you know there is claymores, lean around the corners - just dont rush out. if there is a claymore take another way or drop a nade on it.

i think it adds a lot to the gameplay, especially for clan matches as tactics. it keeps you from just raping while holding your trigger and makes you use your brain instead. i drop it at spawn yes, but not for easy kills. i drop it at my own spawm to protect against spawn rapers.

i think claymores is a very nice idea, they could need a few adjustments tho
