Game maker tutorials

general- Game maker is a great free program to create 2d games that can be great fun.Now on with the tutorials.

Creating your room.First off you need a room.Go to the top menu and select add background,make your own in ur art program or choose a default.Now go to add room.Go to background tab and change color to what you want.


now go to the little opener box as shown below and if you want select a background.


Now on to the objects and sprites.I have no idea what sprites means.

First,go to add sprites and select from your pictures,you can make your own.(do this by going to load sprite.Now go to add objects, choose.Under sprite, go to the windows opener again and open your sprite(picture) then click ok.







now to the events that bring the excitement.
you shouls still be at add object as shown below.




now click add event and go to key press
go to side menu and click and drag the red arrows going evrywhere to the empty spot.Select the up arrow and speed of whatever when the window pops up.

now go to add events again and press key release.repeat the step above about clicking and dragging,except this time choose the middle button. and speed of 0. Repeat the last two steps for left and right and down.All of this movement has been programmed to your object.to put this into effect in the game,now press OK.Now it should go back to your room,if not go to the side menu under rooms and select yours.now go to the objects tab and select this again




open your object,click on it and click on the map where you want to place it.Now go to run in the top menu and run the game in regular mode,when it loads,your keys should control the objects.Please reply if you want more tutorials on advanced stuff.

I didnt ment to offend but since the other post merely stated that you were going to put it up, i thought i'd let ya know.

So youre planning on more indepth tuts also? Let me know if i can help, cuz ive been fiddling with it a bit also.

With gamemaker you can also create 3d games, but it requires some more knowledge of the things used in gamemaker.

Im doing some things with it in my spare time at the barracks, i only need to learn to make graphics. When i made something decent i'll release it here.

PS i forgot to tell before.
Sprites are used for walls, your figure and those kinda things. Without sprites (just little images) you wont be able to make a nice looking game.
