DVD writer lockup

ok here the deal i have a DVD-Writer thats connect throu USB port feed into the Tower and when i restart the system or bootup its lockup at the bois screen, i unplug it and restart the system work out good without cable in the USB port

there no then bad about this DVD writer Drive, i think it has to do with the bois setting

i run it on the older computer 2000pro work fine Dell GX100 & GX110 restarts great don't lockup at all at bois screen moves to log-in screen good

i enable USB item to boot up first on in Windows XP computer bois setting, still no good still lockup

Try making it the last item to boot in the BIOS. Also try a different USB port.

A few other things:
Enable/Disable USB legacy in BIOS
Disable Boot from other devices in BIOS
Change the setting that says Halt on Error in the BIOS, change it to None or something similar.

it's there to allow you to use your USB mouse/keyboard when not in windows, example stolen from Intel:

* Running your computer in Safe mode.
* Using a Windows Startup menu.
* Starting your computer in MS-DOS mode (instead of opening a MS-DOS session from Windows).
* Starting your computer from a floppy disk or leaving a floppy disk in the drive when you turn on or restart your computer.
* Windows "blue screen" errors that ask you to "Press any key to continue".
* Responding to ScanDisk and other messages during the start-up sequence.
* Editing or upgrading the BIOS.
* Entering a BIOS password.

it's just a weird conflict u have going on, but not uncommon with USB devices and computers not being able to POST properly.
