Your cpu should be plenty cool with that fan and thermal paste if not try mounting a side fan (if possible) taht will blow air onto your mobo and cpu.
Intake fans are as important as the Fans inside itself. They are what draws in the colder air |

i am thinking of hookup the AC duct to it, or put it into the freezer j/k
one thing at a time. i do have the open air way not being use by anything at all, i have to see what i can use for it. i think it bigger then a 120x120 would be more like a 180x180 area need to cover that opening have it blow air in, and maybe remove the intake tub to the CPU fan play a 80x80 fan on the panel there.

i was just thinking how you're gonna fit the 120mm fan on your heatsink :/
dont know why the temp would be so high, it would suggest no thermal paste, the heatsink is not fitted correctly or the fan stopped. the new paste should take a few degrees off tho |

Steve the Fan 120x120 is for the front of the tower to blow more air into it. lol
not the CPU lol as for the tube of thermal compound, i going to change what it came with and hope at less it bring it down to around 35c to 50c, as it is running idle 61c to 70c 60c is center yellow zone, hits 70c plus it in the red zone. like it to be in the grean zone more.

temps: case 31 cpu 35
pretty damn low for air cooling. took a along time to get it set like this finally. never had a setup running less than 50 before. now it's silent and cold |

none of the fans appear to be monitored :/
there is probably an option somewhere, either than or they need the yellow cable on the 3 pin connector... none of mine have one |

i'm not exactly sure what 'thermal spec' is supposed to mean. :/
but i seached on google and it does seem that this cpu does run hot. as long as the system runs stable, then i dont really see a problem. yes the temp is high compaired to other chips, but i dont think its much to worry about... unless the system keeps crashing. just keep an eye on it i guess, if things get unstable then you might have to get a new heatsink / fan. but see how things go with the new stuff you ordered |

you know i wish they listed the low range and the high end of the temp range of it.
way its acting seem more like a beta type chip they are passing off, as a good chip bloody hell a hot running chip?

Thermal spec is the average temp the chip will run at with the stock cooler.. I talked to you last night chief, your temps are ok. the p4's run hot, it's normal..

will OK, still not crazy about the temperature thing, but i have to get use to that.
still going see if i can get a tad bet lower at less 55c round about. my dish network DVR box it runs really super hot fan blowing, i lay my hands near the vet i can feel the warm to hot heat from them, but my tower warm to cool air coming out of it.

Thats why i went water cooling keeps my temp nice and low but still has to have 1-2 fans for RAdiator
My Dads pc is a Intel P4 2.8 Ghz w/ Ht at 3.2 Ghz and it runs cool at 49-55*C But it is not a PRESCOT CORE PRESCOT cores usualy run hotter dont know why though |

Heck my laptop has to have four fans under it to keep it from overheating, which it has 4 fans!

will a update seem that jell i place on it seem to keep the temp range around 54c-60c now. it cool off faster too.
still maybe a water cooler for it later on to get the temp lower around 45c man i can run all type of programs it don't seem to lockup or lag anymore at all, like the old tower use to do. only bugger i getting is this active-x control like to instill like to remove that totally and have it go in anyways.
