Swimming

Swimming

This is probably a stupid question, but, is there any strategies or ways you can hold your breath underwater for a long period of time?

Without using a snorkel or a pair of goggles?

if your diving down ... just straighten your body out vertically head down so you'll sink .. not wasting any energy getting yourself fully submerged .. helped me out alot

it does take practice, the condition of the body, how fit a person is and how well their body utilises oxygen is also a factor.
me myself can hold my breath for a munit and a half,i have also benable to hold breath till i pass out without trouble(not recomended).
but for longer periods under water it does help to flush the body with oxygen by inhaling deeply for a period of time b4 becomeing submerged.
just inhale in deep steady breaths(trying not to get too dizzy and pass out, lol) till you are sortof tingly all over and it will increase the time you can spend under water enormously.
but it does help to practice by holding your breath a few times a day, but not till your are uncomforatable.
and doing things like running and other vigourious exercises will also help improve the bodys ability to use the oxygen more effeciently.

Yeah, smoking tars up your lungs and you need air so badly, as what Scott said.
And I believe you Visor, in hot water I can hold my breath for up to 30 seconds, in the swimming pool at school, only about 10-15 seconds. If you guys didn't know, drinking hot water gives you more
oxygen than cold water, that is why, I think.
