Well for my pc i got surrond sound speakers with sub-woofer but they have never worked and don't work, so i use my trusty head-set with attached mic.

I got 5.1 speaker system and found it really difficult to locate people untill gen zz advised me to turn the centre speaker off. Much better now. never used phones but how do you know somebodys creeping up behind you with them?

I just got 2 lil speakers. I have a sub but never hook it up cause its to frikin loud and shakes then desk when i shot my mag.

I got non-5.1 four point surround.
I also have a sub which I dont switch off.
1 because you wouldnt hear **** all without it.
2 because my sub is fully adjustable.

I always use a headset when playing. U can locate people more easaly, if u hear ur own footsteps, u also can hear others sneaking up to you. Don't buy 1 of those cheap headsets, they suck. I have a MS SidewinderGamevoice, best sound ever!!!

I have 5.1 but alway opt for headset as I find it easier to locate enemies & it stops the wife & neighbours complaining a 1:30 am

Headset. Two reasons.....one is cause I can hear shots from any direction since I have a top quality headest and mic so Roger Wilco is alot clearer for my teammates, second reason is cause when Iused my speakers, my wife yelled louder than the speakers telling me to "turn that s**t down". So, its headset for me. lol
