jus to check that you have the latest patch?

do you have a router and / or firewall. it's always worth turning off firewalls just to check that is not the issue.

Check your router for firewall issues, some routers have a built in firewall in which you can configure things to give certain software acces to do there thing..

But you should be able to play online, woth or without a router..

The fix: Go to Control Panel - Sound - Audio - Advanced - Performance - then turn Hardware Acceleration down all the way to the left..

Have you tried it? Its a known issue - just follow the fix. The old ash game is not compatible with one sound card out there. It is happening mostly on New Computers.

DF2 runs on software mate. It's no longer hardware compatible.

Not talking about the Graphics Card here. It is an Audio conflict.

Right I know mate...but sound can be trying to run through hardware as well. Hardware is just a term for anything not built into the motherboard.

My bad. I forgot to say he also said other people did it and it worked.

Just try it. It's not like it's gonna cause a meltdown on the computer or summin' lol.
