Firewalls

if you know of a really good firewall speakup and tell us how good the one you found work out.

1.) ZoneAlarm Pro (is really nice but i like more option in it.)
2.) Sygate Personnal Pro was good till i upgraded to 5.5 New builder it don't do much any more.
3.) Outpost Firewall ( it a blast a lot of option in way more then any i seen.
it block hackers, ads, attachment filter (E-mail),

I use Zone Alarm Pro, it's very nice. We use it on the whole network at our house.

will a update it work really good till i got hacked gee seem some one go into and start mix-up my files and so on, gone back to Sygate firewall. one reason i know how its options work feel better.

as for Outpost firewall it a sweet item a lot of great option's. only as a firewall it burns no good to many holes in it.
35% good as a firewall.

pass 7hrs been trying to work it out fixing it regstery and scaning they whole system for error it was S & D Spybot that end up fixing it only after i uninstill outpost firewall did it stop crashing. what a bugger that was.

I just set up my firewall. I'm using smoothwall. Takes an old computer and turns it into a firewall.

So far I like it (only have had it 3 days )

Zone Alarm is probably the best one for a novice user, that or ICF which is built into Windows XP. The problems with firewalls and not knowing how to use them is you cannot access certain things online and some programs will be blocked for example, if you don't have a firewall set up right (and sometimes even when you do) you will not be able to transfer files via MSN Messenger unless you allow it access. It can be a pain in the butt sometimes but it saves you from getting hacked or cracked or whatever the heck you want to call it :P

blackice is the worst... i remember reading something on like grc.com or some website like that, they said it was pretty much like not having a firewall and was one of the easiest ones to crack

yeah dude stay away from blackice.....it's the worst POS excuse for a firewall out there. as for the best....

IPTables is excellent. I personally use just a router. There's really no need for anything else if you don't have any servers running. They are relatively cheap. And configuration is a snap.
