CAPTCHA Cracked
It's come to my attention that the "Completely Automated Public Turing" test
CAPTCHA has been widely cracked by spammers world wide and some notable sites (including Live) have had to restructure to avoid shutdowns and user security risks. Other companies have moved to other alternatives with a high degree of success. For Now. |

reCAPTCHA has been cracked for quite some time. I'm not sure exactly if it's been computer cracked, or spammers are using live people to solve the problems but when we used reCAPTCHA on the forums here, we had 100's of signups an hour and they were all spammers. Since then we've switched to a question/answer system and account verification which seems to solve 99% of the issues. Spammers usually won't spend time trying to post to forums where no one will see the content.
