Cool Virgin Airways goes inot outer space!!

It's just been announced that Sir Richard Branson owner of Virgin Airways is planning to start commercial flights into outer space some time in the near future.

Do any of you guys and gals fancy a trip into outer space?

At around £155,000 a ticket it's a tad to expensive for me lol lol!!!!

Regards

jsut wait a few years, then the technology will become redundant and theyll be jsut about giving away tickets...

Good Luck to him, i know that he was throwing around the idea of buying the concords when British Airways and Air France stopped...

probably makes more sense than buying ground on mars

but my definition of "outer" space was always outside the solar system. inside it's just space

Cool

I see what you mean BB/Mike, on a different scale video recorders and DVD players were very expenisve at first as they were new technology, now you can get them for next to nothing!

I guess a time may well come when it will be relatively cheap to fly into space after all, air travel was very expensive when it first began.

Nev I hadn't thought about outer space like that but I see what you mean lol!

Regards

I'd prefer to avoid going into space, and leaving behind the comfort of having oxygen everywhere. As for the whole commercial thing, there were airlines selling tickets to the moon in the '60s. It may not happen soon.

they already take you to space i though, but like in a real space craft, i think for like a $1,000,000 too ... yea...pretty pricey..

they have other stuff too, like they take u for $30,000 in a mig jet as high as it goes, witch is like...between space and earths atmoshphere, going at supersonic speeds....

and for $5,000 they take u in a padded plane, like a big jet, then they shoot for the ground.....looked cool, its like sky diving though, just without the air hitting you, so it feels like your floating

i saw this on some dicovery channel show befor yall ask lol

yup, it's called parabolic flight
found a nice article on it:
http://www.stud.tu-ilmenau.de/~flma-...ic-flight.html

in that example the flight is 110 minutes, of which 10mins you're practically weightless (in 20 second periods).
that's a lot compared to virgin's flight (1 week training, 3 hours flight, 3 minutes weightless)

the big difference is the view i guess, but even for that it's kinda overpriced IMO
