Black Hawk

I'm a bit new to LW mapping, since it's so different to BHD mapping lol.

What I'm trying to do is make it so the Black Hawk has its engines on after it's landed on its last waypoint. When on the last waypoint and landed, the rotor just stops spinning.

I want it so that it keeps spinning.

I've tried something like Red Alert to make the BH feel that it's "in danger" and not turn the engine off - but no luck.

Any help guys? Thanks.

Chris

its been a few years since ive even looked at the med...

Have you tried not making it the last waypoint and bringing down the helo by reduction of speed? (I think anything under 8 will bring it down)

Will it go down and land at that speed?

speed = 0 iirc will make it hover, but you can put the height = 0 also.

sry i cant remember the actions very well.

Hmm...

Well I don't want to make it hover - I just want it to land and keep the engine on, then when I get off, it redirects to another waypoint (I've got the Area Trigger sussed though, don't worry).

However, if it just seems impossible, I will go with the hover.

I know they've done this in some of the stock missions, but I've looked into the events and don't know how to. The Black Hawk in half the missions probably doesn't even redirect when you get off it (probably just a Vaporize event or it moves when you proceed to Extraction).

In my mission, the place where the Black Hawk lands is a hot zone, so there will be AT4s and gunfire. So I want it to land on the ground with the rotor still spinning then boost off ASAP once I'm off the BH.

Sorry if this is asking for too much.

Chris

I didn't really get what you meant by height 0 - do you mean something in the Events or in the BH's attributes? I get what you mean by 0 speed.

it should be in the THEN part of the event i think

IF blackhawk reaches waypoint x
THEN speed = 0 AND height = 0

i'm sure it's something like that.

Damnit, no luck. I couldn't find Height - where is it in the Action Type list?

Height probably won't be an action. Here's a suggestion:

1.) Make it land

2.) Set an event that makes it follow another waypoint after it lands

3.) Put a 10 second delay on the above event.

Try that not sure if it will work though.

I've already got an event like that (only that it's a fifteen second delay instead). Thanks for the suggestion though.

* Edit:
I just tried doing what Mike said. The thing is Mike, when I made it so that when the BH goes to WP #10 at 0km, there's no event where I can actually redirect the BH to e.g: WP #11 - I have to make the BH start off on WP #1 all over again.

Well, I want the BH to start off in the air when it starts, so it's like 10 or something. You could try and get the Z to 0 in Events, but there's no such thing (besides, when the BH lands, its Z is going to 0).

I've asked Eagle Eye the same problem - he might know the solution.

If it just seems impossible, I'll come up with some kind of alternative.

change the height of the last waypoint to 0, and slow the speed to 0.
if you tell the chopper to land then it will always turn the engines off.

Z is already on 0 on the last WP, and the BH has been on 0km on the last WP before.

Don't worry, I'll suss it out eventually.

I'll make a change of plans though. Rather than the BH landing at the last waypoint and keeping the engines on, then fifteen secs later it follows the extraction point waypoint, I'll make it so that when it goes to the last waypoint, it'll land and have the engines turn off - then when I kill the leader and exit, it'll come with me to extract.

Or alternatively, I can have it like in TFD where the BH just hovers and you jump off and then it moves.

I'll play around a bit.
