screen trouble
idk y but my second monitor for my laptop that i've been using has shut down and won't work any more, and there's a lot of pixels blacked out at the top of my laptop screen, so i can only see half of my exit, minimize, and maximize buttons that are in the top right of the screen, any suggestions on how to fix at least one of these problems?

use the arrow keys to highlite log-in and press enter
can you get to desktop? if so try to use system restore if you can sounds like video setting got screw up or drivers could be the bois too think Scott may know more about laptops and other, a bet out my field check the video setting or reset them to default setting for video card software may fix it up back to normal

my second screen got like, burned out or something, i can use my laptop screen, but ive been using the second screen for my games and all that, so i dont really want 2 use my laptop screen, my laptop screen is the one with the bunch of pixels blacked out at the top

ok got ya
 do you have anyhting u can connet the spare monitor to to check that it is the monitor that is faulty or the output from the laptop? i think that is the first thing to confirm. the laptop screen doesn't sound good tbh, it sounds like a typical lcd/tft screen fault where you get a band of dead pixels, sometimes you can get different colours instead or just complete loss of power across or vertically. but difficult to say without having it infront of me. you would get symptoms like that on CRT monitors where you could adjust the display's position but it is not really like that for laptop screens. it's definatley not some kind of tool bar? if you move your mouse there does the cursor vanish? is it there on at the login screen and in games? if it was me i'd get the case off and reseat the monitor data/power cable but it's not really something u should do unless you know what you are doing  (usually only involves taking off the plastic bezel around the screen or a thin blastic piece between the keyboard and the screen hinges).here is a nice website for laptop relate repairing, this article is about replacing the screen http://www.laptoprepair101.com/lapto...screen-repair/

yes, the band of black pixels is there when i turn on my laptop, and yes my cursor (well, half of it anyway) does disappear when i put it up there. i will get a picture of it and put it on here if u would like.

will can you open any application when you get to desktop?
if yes 1.) do anything you like to get that image on desktop 2.) press Print Scrn/ sysRg (it will taken a snapshot) 3.) open image software application (past in image) print-key has taken a copy of the desktop, be included in the image it did when you press Print-key *don't know if it will work or not, my feel your monitor is bad and the snapshot will only show full details and not whats on the monitor screen. will show what it should be shown

well, its a windows xp, intel penitum 4 processor, and below the screen it says Evo N1020v, if that helps at all about the age

a quick search indicates that it could be as old as 7 years...
I still say that your laptop monitor is going, nothing you can do about it other then to get a new laptop or *try* to buy a replacement panel and repair it. ici
