i have tried a few diff versions of this but there are 3 BIG problems for me

#1 it has issues with Photoshop - it messes up the mouse positioning
#2 it has issues with DFTFD - well the animated skins at leas. causes the screen to flicker
#3 it has issues with Nortons Firewall - when the new program alerter pops up it renders ur comp useless unless u reboot.

all three i use everyday so it had to go.

there are numerous other windows skinners that are all good an bad in their own way IMHO. but u know what? i ended up going back to Windows classic! simple clean and hassle free - go figure

others i have used are

Aston
Litestep
Win Styles
Desktop X
Hoverdesk
Talisman
and of course windows blinds.

i think the best ones are windows blinds and Aston for sure. win blinds costs u more for all the addons though likw object desk etc whereas Aston is easier to use i find but on the other hand it has less skins :/

I just turn it off while playing DF.....and turn it back on when done playing. I like it cuz it gives u the Idea u R using a different OS.

Version 4.0 will be released, I think it has an update for the flickering with games.

i think the ones i tried are mostly shell replacements which added a lot more functionality and is basically exactly what i wanted i.e. creating menus on my desktop, windows really needs that function in my opinion cause i thinkt he start menu is cr@p.

one problme with these shell replacements is that they are setup for the user that created them so they need tweaking and its damn hard to get suitable ones for 1600 x 1200 especially with Aston

it would be great to see one that works 100%, maybe i'll give style xp a go.

good post btw, i'll get some links for the proggies i have tried. i think once ppl are aware of them then they will see how poor windows really is hehe
