Maps
I see, and have downloaded maps. Can these be added to my PC for me to play?
And if so, how does one go about adding a map? If not, what are they used for? Additionally, how does one get started creating maps? I have had the pleasure of playing many maps online and I have to commend those creators, many exciting campaigns. Blue Sky |

well to add a map to your DFX game just simply take all of the files you downloaded and move them into your game directory (install folder). BUT, MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT MOVE THE WHOLE FOLDER OR ZIP FOLDER TO THE DIRECTORY.
just the files. And you create maps with the Missions editor. AKA: MED. to open your MED go to....... "Start", "Programs", "Novalogic", "Delta Force Xtreme", "mission editor". and if you want info on how to use the MED just post in the mapping forums. or PM me. I'll be happy to answer any questions. just to get you started on the MED here's some hints. go to "Edit from the menu bar up at the top and click on general info or press Ctrl+I on your keyboard. now in the general info box go to the drop down box called "Mission terrain". open the drop down box and chose any of the terrains and click OK. you now have a terrain to work with. press Ctrl+S on your keyboard. this will save and export your map to the game so it can be played. now open your game and go to instant action and find the map with your maps name on it and play it. and there you have a map with nothing more then a simple terrain. and to place objects in the MED just right sick anywhere on the terrain and click "insert mode" and click anywhere you want and it will bring up an object placing box. just select the object you want and click ok. and then you can explore the MED from there. LOL I get carried away too easily....... Last edited by skinny killer; 10-04-2008 at 07:21 PM. |

And also, if you can, read the manual for the MED (look in your DFX folder in Start Menu).
I know it looks boring and all, but just read it. It's very informative. You'll learn it very very fast if you read the manual, mate.

Thanks for the quick and thoughtful help. I appreciate it. Who knows perhaps you may play a map you indirectly helped create. I hope.

I'm looking forward to seeing your maps in the DFX map section. hopefully you can help make some single player maps. I haven't seen very many SP maps. just keep an eye out for a guy named "MERMITE". he likes to spit in your face and call you maps a piece of crud over something stupid. some of his suggestions are useful but over all he just likes to make himself feel big. Happy mapping. |

Yeah, not enough SP maps. I've made an SP map called "Link Break" - also did a Co-op version of it.
It's a bit short but it's a pretty laid-back Co-op.

There's a guy called huntor in our mod team for BO - he's friggin' awesome at .defs - so is BLACKJACK.
huntor absolutely cleaned up WEAPON, ITEMS, and AMMO.defs. They are so neat now, and every line is perfect.

Skinny,
DL, and I know I had it with the first one (had to re-DL), it's not there (I do have a RAT.exe). Funny thing is that as I play single and finish missions the game blue screens on me more and more when doing Co-op. I have uninstalled and re-installed twice, (just did the other day) as long as I don't play single, online play works great, go figure! Anyway, back to mapping...I tried to Dl the DFXMED and got a trojan Now I got to fix that bugger. Let me know what you can do for me, PM if need be, or EM. Thx, Blue |

Is your downloaded DFX a legit one you downloaded from Nova, or a pirated?
Anyways, download this: http://www.deltaforcegaming.com/chrispy/misc/dfxmed.zip It has dfxmed.exe and also the DFX MED manual Put those into your DFX directory and open up the MED to see if it works. If it works, mess around with it and make a map. I also included the manual just incase you didn't have it as well. Read that manual buddy - it helps A LOT. And what is with people having MED problems with a downloaded version? Did Nova try to disable it or something...?

Chrispy,
Thanks alot. No pirates here, legit, right from Novalogic, paid in full. Like I said, it was there, (I have a habit of looking in my dirs for .exes) I opened it, got intimidated and closed it. Second DL, gone. Del the first DL thinking it was the demo. Flood, still love the map. Oops got an error, but I see it, says I have a bad textool string...I'll play w/ it and get back w/u. Thanks again.
