DFTFD Server/Hosting

Hi Gunners,

I custom your assistance. I despaired.
I want to play in the LAN with 10 people (DFTFD). My friends are to find mine to "servers" however over IP and not over IPX/SPX.

There are Tools such as IP Pinger, IP4TFD, etc. however if I one dedicated servers starts finds it never means servers. When am I for the Tools a server?

What do I have to do, so that Tools find me such as IP Pinger or others?

Is there guidances or something similar somewhere, how one hosten DFTFD in the LAN can?

Or help itself can someone from you?

I am very grateful!!!

Greeting BerlinGunner

Ok ... what I got from your description is that you have a dedicated server on which you want to host DFTFD games for 10 friends of yours ... You want to know where to find the hosting options? right? Please reply so I can guide you correctly

Hi DevilDog,

no, option I know the Hosting (I think).

Is there a possibility over IP and not IPX/SPX for connecten?
I thought there could one something with the IP Pinger, DF Commander or the like achieve.

When i start a Host, no Tool is find me. No IP Pinger, no DF Commander, nobody. Why?

When am I for this Tools a server?

I hope you know which I mean!?!?

Ok gotcha this time ... You wanna host as a dedicated server over LAN so people would connect to you using your IP via a program like IP Pinger, right?

We have the problem, if we at one dedicated more sever over IPX connecten ourselves, then can 2-3 joinen and the remainder wait at least 10 minutes to it in the play are.

Up to then the mission is finished.

I think this is the Problem from IPX!?!?!

Thus all Clients installed IPX in the same manner.
We modified all our network number, so that no same in the network are.

All Clients the connecten knows, remains 10 minutes or longer with the message "Loading mission from servers" hanging

i dont really know much stuff about networking but this has happened to me b4 but i think it might have been a faulty connector on the card, but if so many have the problem then that is unlikely.

also another problem was when i was in a LAN and everyone had win2000 and i was using win 98. i just could not join some games and i could not see the other computers on the network.

can all players view the other computers on the network?

that will halp figure out if the problem is the network or the problem is with the game in some way

We have all Windows 2000 or XP, there make the play also no difference.
Both OS do not come into the play, but stop any longer like 3, then all different wait.

We configured all IPX, as described above. We have 100 MBit cards and a SWITCH on which we, without detours, connecten ourselves

I white it, but do not assume the errors in the IPX stack. IPX is produced a log in the network for very much load. Therefore I want to go over IP, so that we relieve the network at least a little

Forgives me. My English reads itself greyful
