All works and brings up a lot of the settings they try to hide from you.
For interest I created my folder as:

C:\Windows\System32\GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Then I made shortcuts to the Items I need to use and placed them in a quicklaunch style menu

Nifty but I still couldn't find a way to get rid of the stark white Windows Explorer background, something I've always wondered why you can't change without re-skinning

These settings really speed things up, helps prevent double clicking, reduces resource usage and still keep it looking purdy.

Turn off the RED ones

I like Nvidia, but mistakenly had bought an AMD Crossfire board so I've got AMD graphics just in case I wanted XFire.

I have found some programs (I own and have rights for distribution of the created objects)that make desktop widgets (standalone gadgets) and xp/vista like start menus, so lookout windows 8, here I come armed and ready. I have successfully made some already but I will post later with full details after I have made some more of them and tested for possible distribution to my friends. They will have to be configurable for the User and have variables that allow them to be run with full access on any account.

The widgets can be without backgrounds and just be buttons on your desktop

You need to let DX install to give your games the correct path and settings verified.

Some games you can say "no I already have DX##" and ignore the installer but other games can go wonky.
Best to let them do it.

Splinter is a real-time still imagery in motion desktop interface, the ultimate desktop customizer, and is only limited by the imagination.

It combines the 5 most commonly used desktop application functionality genres:

File Launcher
Icon Docking Station
Stack Docklet
Wallpaper Flipper
Visual Style Editor
