Anyone know of a good firewall that is free and allows you to open specific ports.
ZA Free Edition doesn't allow you to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

did you check the setting for "stealth and anti-port scan" in it, if they are enable they block the game totally can't have them enable. if you can uncheck them to disable them it better for the game
don't know about comodo maybe Steve or icishoot know what is going and how to help you.

All firewalls will block ports - that is what they are designed to do. A firewall that doesn't block the ports is nothing.
comodo allows you to open specific ports, you just need to learn how in comodo, hit the Misc... button then look for the user manual. That will explain how to open ports and the other aspects of comodo. Or if your getting the pop up window in the lower right, where comodo is asking you want you want to do, say yes |

I did.
For some reason it is still blocking them.

Is windows firewall still running?
and do you have a router - could be that. Also could be your modem - some modems have built in firewalls. I think mine has, seeing as when I open up port in my firewall it is still blocked |

It is Windows 2000 and I have the firewall on the modem turned off.
I've forwarded the correct ports as well.

Tried comodo aswell and it drove me nuts as I cept allowing programs but it still kept blocking them. Got rid of it and now use windows firewall (it's crap but atleast something) and then a real hardware firewall

When working on my game server I don't get very many requests to allow programs. And when I do, I don't just say allow, I tell it to treat the application as a trusted application, keeps it from asking again. |

ICI or steve....what is the difference between the source port and destination port?
which one do I allow for FTP, remote access and the webserver? Ports should be 21,80 and the other one for remote.

source is where it's coming from and destination is where it goes to, simple as that. but you might need to explain the context. I'm not sure why the source and destination ports would be different though :/
if you want 2-way traffic then the port needs to be open at both ends. for security i'd use a different port for FTP. |

Source ports will be different based on the application...
When I set up my comodo I didn't do any thing with source ports, only destination ports. I just left the source set to any. that way any incoming traffic would be routed through, as long as it was going to a specific port. For example - when people join a BHD server, their traffic comes in from different ports - but they all are going to port 17500 UDP I got 7 players in my server right now, none of their connection ports are 17500. I think I got it working. Only problem is my modem forwarding the port 80. Everyone can get the FTP fine but they can`t get the site. It worked fine on my computer but when I try the W2K server it doesn`t like it.

Your modem probably has a built in webserver that is used to administrate your modem. And it is set probably to listen on port 80.
If you can't change that port, then as far as I know all you can do is configure your webserver to listen on a different port. IcI |
