What's Your Favorite Video Game?

Hey everybody,

I recently caught a few ads on Spike TV for their upcoming Video Game Awards (it airs Dec. 14th but I'm not sure what time, check out their website if you want) and thought to start this thread to see who everyone thinks should win the award for game of the year. Maybe we could tally up the replies here and then compare them to which game actually wins that night? It might be cool too to send these results to Spike TV after we're done, especially if our favorites aren't on their list. So I'm going to dig around and try to find a way to contact them too.

Here's this year's choices from Spike's website (if you don't agree, just put down your favorite):

Burnout 3: Takedown (Electronic Arts)
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Rockstar Games)
Half-Life 2 (Vivendi Universal Games)
Halo 2 (Microsoft Game Studios)

Also, what's your all-time favorite? (I'm predicting Super Mario Brothers and CS will top the list here.)

fave all time is probably Mario Kart
anyone who has played it loves it, simply more fun than any other game i've ever seen or played


best multiplayer game is Ghost Recon
realistic fps, no silly bunnyhopping, no running while shooting, no vehicles, more mature gaming community, excellent


best single player is HL2
it's just changed the way games are going to be made, although the story is not particularly good, it's the way its made and the way it runs and the tricks and the effects that make it sweet. forget the story, if u want a story read a book, take it as it comes, shoot the bad guys dont worry about plots or try to figure out what it all means, enjoy the gfx and kills

Best Game of All Time. Zelda - Ocarina of Time
Best Multiplayer Game. Mario Kart -SNES
Best Online Game. Delta Force Land Warrior
Best PC Single Player. Deus Ex (first)

The great days of Shigeru Myamoto classics appear to be over.
Modern Consoles aren't cutting it nowadays as far as I am concerned. You new kids enjoying XBox and PS2 are really missing out on real innovation.
The playstation kick started the mass gaming market and now games publishers are making games for fast profit without any real thought about the game play.
Even the years best console games are sequels.
XBox Live is poor compared to the PC online experience but its cheap accessibility means that we are bound to continue to see pap games churned out for the undiscerning market.
I have even got bored with Half Life 2. I am actually at a section that is nothing more than a 3D dynamic physics rehash of a platform game.

ps2 - GTA Vice City, better than san andreas (mission wise)
motorola v600 < only got this for a few more hours but the best game on that is stuntman

Best Game Overall - Ping...J/P LOL Maybe Ghost Recon even thoug aint played it except on PS2 (dont buy it for PS2, it sucks, would be much better playing online...)

Best PS Game: Grand Theft Auto Vice City, a great game for getting rid of the days stress lol!!!!

Best PC game for me is both BHD on line and Land Warrior on line!!!!

Best game for me of all time? Has to be Tombraider the first one was a game like no other I've ever played!!!!

There are so many I've seen mentioned here I've played on and they are great too!!!!

Best game of all time is a tough one.

I think you'd have to go by genre, because you can't really compare racing games with FPS games, etc.

One of my favorite games of all time is Tetris...the original. Then of course there's River Raid and Missile Command for Atari

Mario Kart 1 for snes is one of my favorite racing games.

PC single player: Alpha Centauri Alien Crossfire. I could play that game forever.

PC Online: Landwarrior...hands down the best.

PS2: I like ATV Offroad Fury 2, and I'm getting into ATV 3. Ratchet and Clank: UYA is also becoming on of my extreme faves.

PS1: Tony Hawk's Pro skater 1 and 3. 2 was shat
