The GFX card, mobo, and RAM also arrived yesterday too (thanks Barra!).

The GFX card is something like an 8400GS 512MB, the mobo is fairly new too I'd reckon (it's an ASUS, supports 2 GFX cards for SLi and it's got a whole crapola load of other features too). I think the RAM's something like a 2gb stick.

Next week I might as well start the build, although as of now I've got no CPU yet, or a disc drive or a hard drive, lol.

I reckon the hardest part will be me trying to figure out which plugs into where on the motherboard. Read the mobo manual yesterday and planning on reading it again too.

Lot of freaking wires in the case lol. Well they have names on them like e.g. "POWER LED" and all which is good, so I know what's what...

Next week I'm thinking about starting the build. I reckon the suckiest part might be trying to get all those wires to the right spots on the mobo. Hopefully the manual will sort that out.

And even then I'd have to wait for the CPU, so I can't start it up to see if I did it right... nooooooooooo!

the MOB would have a layout booklet were to connect all the wires to on it.

my had a layout on a sheet of paper 36in top to bottom x 48in wide.

you find most of the plugs ins have a fool proof connecting wire too.

the start, reset, hard drive active LCD most are color code and layout in your mob booklet will point what one to were the connection are on MOB

what ever you do don't trash the booklet, paper work, boxs on item you got new. you may have to return a item like MOB if it get fry.

you have to Keep!!
* all boxs
* paperwork invoice (says paid in full with order number on it)
* warrenty is no good without all the paperwork! shows proof! you must keep!
* MFG like their item return in the same box you got it out of and sleeves/ packing housing came with in the box.

keep in mind if you ship it back to the maker of the item and shipping company break it! maker will not do a thing with it at all, other then ship it back to you, keep all packing item the box that the item came with inside the box in a safe place.

nevermind...
JK

anyway, tell me what the motherboard was exactly, since theres a few boards made by ASUS that have some crappy cooling for the Northbridge, and that causes lock-ups, too.

430 watts? Good thing or bad thing...?

I'm pretty sure everything will go fine when I do the build. Lots and lots of cables to plug in, hehe.

Mobo = ASUS P5NSLI.

I got a modular power supply. I was so worried I was plugging the wrong wires into the wrong slots. Luckily it was fine

Not enough of a good thing, If you know you built it right, and your computer still acts screwy, it might not have enough power to chug along. about that motherboard, I dont see anything wrong since the cooling isnt the same design as some others that were designed to fail. you can still look through customer reviews and see if anyone had any overheating probs.

Mobo = ASUS P5NSLI.
count what you be doing, if you playing a game and the video card need more power then the PSU can handle it will go dead on you.
550watts or 600watts is what most people using do more with their system.

450watts is fair field, but having 500watts or more is even better, it don't mean having more watts it will fry the mother broad ether it can handle what ever you put to it or even a 1000watts is what most highend user now days use.

there are some pricey one out there and some good cheap price one as will. i like Ultra brand name it done good for me, the new one they have now days come with a life time warranty to them as will, no more 2-5yrs warranty ether from ultra.

placing the cable on the MOB i know the feel i have to do the same sat day getting my in, only i have to do it by memorize! were all them cable go back to, that's going to be a bitch to think! were this one go again crap.

i have to hope i get it right

i have like 20-30 cable to plug back up

only maybe 12 of them go to the MOB rest to the drives that part easy!

i really can feel your pain chrispy

ps my PSU 800watt replacement only came with two connection for the SATA drives (MOB has 4-SATA connection to use for it) and something new a SLi cable the one, my old PSU did not have on the old one lol
