lame spyware crap

ok i went to a site that my friend linked and i probably should of checked the address first but i didnt. So lucky me the site installed some nasty **** onto my pc that i can't seem to get rid of. The software or whatever it is is called ISTsvc and it searches for porn files and stuff like that. So occasonally i'll get a popup for some kind of sex site or pills (u know what i'm talking about). Anyway, I was using IE at the time which was probably a mistake so i switched to firefox and the popups occur less often. But heres the problem, I can't get rid of the software. It's in my add/remove list but whenever i try to remove it my pc freezes. There is also a folder for it in my programs files but I cannot delete it. I've tried booting up in safe mode and getting rid of it and I thought it was gone. But the next time i booted up it was back again. Does anyboyd have any suggestions on how to get rid of this ****? I do not really want to re-format but I think I might have to....

oh and i've tried getting rid of it with ad-aware but it doesnt pick it up

What OS are you on? If you're on XP, try a system restore.

I suggest you get Webroot Spysweeper- that takes care of a lot of junk. You can also run an online virus scan @ housecall.antivirus.com.

Also, try out Ewido: http://www.download.com/Ewido-Securi...-10326287.html

I've got the free edition, and while it's not great for real-time checks, it's hard for anything to get past it.

EDIT: I don't think they offer the free edition any more, but they still support it. If you're interested, I'll try to find the download I used
