Post DF mission editing in general

i think one of the most apealing things about the DF games is that it is so simple to make a map and there are thousands of custom maps available from a large number of sites.

also the tiny tiny file sizes of maps means they can be downloaded in a matter of seconds. if you play other games such as ghost recon you will know maps are 20MB each and even bigger.

of course these maps are difficult to make and are made in 3D studio max and take a long time to create.

i just wondered if people would prefer:

the current DF system of easy to make, small file size, but very limited system

or

hard to make, large file size, only limited by ur imagination system?

Would like to c combination of these two, easy to make, small file size, limited by imagination. Df maps are mostly bit boring and not so unique as in for example in Ghostrecon, offcourse there is some unqiue nice maps in DF too but they still are bit lame compared to ones in GR...

Mby it might born from idea that game includes huge amount of diffrent kind of Textures and simple packing/binary system to 3D design? (3D is still only text files that contain huge amount of info in small file size so this might b one option?) It needs much from Map editing program and it should b so flexible that it could import 3D models from 3ds, height map by nova is quite good Idea only that BHD doesnt support it "on the fly" wich is a shame, would of bring much more life to map editing/creating

We will c this someday but not today...

If They Provided Assignable textures,And things like walls windows ect in The DF Editor so you could then build your own builings ect.You Could still keep the small file size.

Most Map Makers Use objects to make taller buildings and new buildings.

Maybe they should add some building blocks ect.
I Like The Way the UnrealED works you can create whatever level you like but are limited to a small area.
