I getting a new PC monday

I want to know what to do with it...

I am going to format it straight up with XP Pro, then what... do all Microsoft updates, SP2, etc...

THen install Microsoft Office 2003

Then after that.. what else would you recommend that i install?

I want to keep this one 'safe' as the one i am using now i end up formatting quite abit and am at quite abit of risk with no A/V etc.

Crap cleaner
Diskeeper (The MS Windows one is also decent..)
McAfee AntiVirus Enterprise 8.0i

mobo drivers
gfx drivers
defrag - Perfectdisk > Diskeeper
Kaspersky
network card drivers
get online and download firefox2,
update XP and antivirus,
defrag

image of HDD - use Ghost or acronis true image

image should be pretty small, or at least fit on a dvd. then you can go back to this point any time you want as long as you dont do major changes to your hardware setup.


after that, i'd go for, winrar, codecs, winamp, office, cccleaner etc etc personal choices

um after that get some Virus adn Sypware protection like Kaspersky and Spyware Doctor

and then do teh Driver updates for Gfx card and Mobo

then Install any items you want like photoshop games and so on.

Dont forget that formatting dosent get ride of all data over time people can recover it like Hackers ect Use R Wipe&clean
Whitecanyon Deleted Data Program or Active Eraser

Then do stuf so on and so on game ect have fun doin it
