Land warrior freezing when joining multiplayer game

Hi, I'm new to these forums and pretty much new to LW although I used to play a long time ago.

But anyways, for some reason whenever i try to join public games it freezes immediately as it gets to the joining game screen, and i cant move my mouse or anything. I have to ctrl alt delete to close it and it says not responding. and the only reason my problem is different from the rest is that i use steam. any help appreciated

Use the joining session patch program. Use the link in the post by scott to download it

Hello, I'm a newb to this forum but need some help. My buddy and I each installed DFLW recently. We were having some issues connecting online, and after doing the updates and some searching found this patch. We both downloaded it and start the game with it. 2 nights ago we played, and last night when we tried it didn't matter who hosted, we each locked up at the joining session screen. We both exited out and were both able to joing other games, just not with each other. Hoping someone would have some insight. Thanks for your time.

could be something network related (port forwarding or firewall). Also you could try to start the game on the server side without using the VON-patch (will take a liltle longer to start server).

Here's an update. We've been playing the last week or so and some nights he has to host and some nights I do. Not quite sure why but at least we can play. Thanks for the suggestions.
