Nope thats a 2nd option, you can have internet through 2comps.
Make sure theres 2 network cards in 1 computer, and then share the internet connection through it. i thought are very good best friend Steve knew more about it, because i have seen this question before. But its a option what you want.

Good luck BB, i dont know if it will work on the xbox thing console ( BAH BOOOO!!!! erm.... darn i own 1 myself)
But with 2 comps it will work for sure. Because when routers and switches were to expensive for private use they used this.

i got the standard "modem" from my dsl company and then got tweaking, its now a 1 port router! :o
Put a switch behind it and have a network. Router is also DHCP server so no troubles getting online.

I tried forever to do it without a router.. I know you can transfer stuff between the 2 computers but not 'share' and internet connection.. well from what I have experianced.

As Storm said its entirely possible
PHONE-->ROUTER/HUB--->comp1-->comp 2 And you will need to forward ports, open do a few things with network cofigs, so basicly your turning one comp into a Switch/hub, mind you tho the second computer will run slower ineternet as its not router side i game straight out of my routers connection as its the fastest and no other comps are connected to it to take the line
