Minimizing DFX

Just wondering if anyone has the same problem I do with DFX. Sometimes, when I minimize the game (hit start key), I am unable to get back into the game without killing it and restarting it. NOt all the time, just some of the time.

Are their any known techniques to ensure being able to come back into a game if you temporarily leave it? Any "best practices/tips?"

alt + tab?

make sure it isnt the same res as your desktop, or settings ?

I had tried the alt-tab approach before, but that behaves in the same way...it "acts" like it is trying to bring up the game, but it never does...just hangs. I used to play (and still do), some of the earlier DF games, and have not had this problem.

Regarding the comment about resolution: What exactly do you mean? Not sure I understand. The game definitely runs at a lower resolution than my desktop....is there something you would suggest I check?

uhm, well maybe it was a different problem to this, but some people have problems minimizing and maximizing DF when their desktop res was the same as in game.
how much RAM do you have ?

I have 1.5 GB of RAM....

up to date graphic drivers ?

Graphics drivers are good. The card is about a month old (but I had the problem even before that). It's not a biggee, I guess. Just irritating if you jump out of a game where you are doing well, only to not be able to get back. Let me keep playing with alt-tab....maybe I am not being patient enough, or something. That always USED to work in other Novalogic games i play.

I think I just understood what you meant, earlier, regarding running game at same res as my desktop! I think I was. Let me try that for a bit..thanks!!! ALso, am trying to make it run in a window by using /w after the target in the startup icon of the game, too.
