Cry 101 Tips????

BHD editor is a little nicer looking than the MED for the last two but the controls are a little different.

I used StevieBs 101 Tips extensivley to get me started before.

Is there anything like that out for BHD or does SB plan a new one?

the manual on the cdrom pretty much tells u everything.
one annoying thing for me was the removal of middle click to centre the map, now it it crtl+right click, pffffffft

the 3d wireframe view is freekin sweet, but takes a while to get used to. needs lots of shifts and ctrls and arrows :/?

now that im not on my work placement i dont get as much free time (lolol) to do stuff like the 101 (113) tips but i will always be here to answer questions, u know my email to

i will make some tutorials if anyone wants to suggest some

tbh the control right click is about all I need.

Any tips on getting ladders right for very tall buildings would be nice.

Im struggling with getting the fecking thing to rotate so I can see it well, it isnt exactly as intutive as MAX.
I did it once through the wireframe and when I got in the ladders were aligned nicely but one ladder was 20 metres too high......

Next question.
I spent a good few minutes building a street scene using the new tiling options.

Later when I went back the tiles werein the .bms but gone from the .mis. I exported the mis and they were gone in the BMS.
The map was not in any stage of playability so I wasnt too upset but dissapearing tilesets are going to become a nightmare if I dont get to understand where they went.
Do I have to do a special save?

Just use the Insert and Delete keys in 3d wireframe mode to rotate the view.

Yo Stevie, trying to figure out the helo thing !! You know, chopper on pad, climb in, it takes off, changes speed, does the waypoint thing ends up back where it started, then resets so you can do it all over again. It's a lot different than LW or TFD, Can get it off the ground, can get it to land, but it stops dead, rotors and all, can't get it started again. A tutorial would be nice, a mis file would be tops, when we get a bms to mis converter I'll be able to peek into other mis files, but I'm not very patient. But I will be if you want to set up a tutorial for helos.

Many Thanks

Eagle Eye

hi Eagle

i think you're the only person ive seen with this problem. time and time and time again people keep saying that there event carries on over again and their helo never stops.

this for single player or multi?

i will be making some tuts i guess. problem is that events are really easy once you have done them but explaining them is difficult unless you're at someones computer and it takes time to cover every single step in a tut. if u can hold on for a bit then i'll get something sorted.

How can anyone play your maps knowing what went on behind the scenes whilst making it?

Thanks Stevie, spent a heap of time on this last night, seam to have it licked now. Main priblem was that when you tell the blachhawk to land ie.

Event 4: Land

Reset after 120 seconds

Triggers:

SSN 27 has reached waypoint 4, 0
Actions:

Change SSN 27 AI : AI state to Land
Change SSN 27 AI : stop using waypoint Z

Land means ( as per the manual page 35 ) "stop forward motionand settles to ground. Rotors spin down and stop." Well thats what happens, but my waypionts where not looped, they are now.

Thanks,
Eagle Eye
