Someone explain...

World of warcraft

I know it's some sorta stratigy game, but really, what is it? Is it just like an online fantasy simulation where you build your char and collect good from other people? It is a war type game? Game informer mag does reviews on it all the time, but every time I fail to get the whole point of the game. I'm not bashing it, just courious as alot of people play it -- alot.

I'm looking for the basics of what you would do if you were playing it... no web links please i've already looked at alot.. I must be over looking something

but what tasks, strengths etc? I know that you make a char, build him into something and collect stuff. But what, and what for?

Ok here we go

world of warcraft is bascily a MMO, so your interacting with other people very much

basicly, the object is to build your char up so you can get to lvl 60, so you can go Raiding, PvPing, ect

for every lvl you get, your skills go up, the skills are

strength
stamina
agility
spirit
( and some others i dont remember right now)

(i reccomend play the trial before you make a commentment)

you can either
1. take the time to quest and learn the story
2. grind your char out As fast as possible (goin out killin mobs)

so, once you build yourself up, the object is to get a guild, have some fun and go 40 man instance raiding,

uber uber fun
and if you start, i garuntee that you will stick with it for a long time

as you go through the game, you complete quests for certain items to build your character. make him/her stronger to overpower your oponent. There are tons of bosses you can conquer as well as other npc's and other online characters alike.

It is a war game and just alike it is a fantasy simulation game. You can PvP virtually anywhere and you can kill anything that is not associated with your faction (alliance/horde).

There are many different skills and player types you can be. Player classes are:

Alliance:

- Mage
- Warlock
- Rogue
- Paladin
- Priest
- Druid
- Hunter

Horde:

- Mage
- Warlock
- Rogue
- Shaman
- Priest
- Druid
- Hunter

Player Races:

Alliance:

- Human
- Night Elf
- Gnome
- Dwarf

Horde:

- Orc
- Tauren
- Undead
- Troll

Player Mounts (what you ride):

Alliance:

- Horse
- Saber
- Mechanostrider
- Ram

Horde:

- Wolf
- Skeletal Horse
- Kodo
- Raptor

Player Professions are:

Alliance/Horde:

- Tailor
- Blacksmith (armorsmith, swordsmith, mace crafter)
- Alchemist
- Herbalist
- Engineering
- Cooking
- Enchanting
- Leatherworking
- Skinning
- Mining

Theres a variety of different things to do. Whether you want to go solo and fight your own battles in PvP (Player vs. Player) or find a good, established guild and go raiding/PvE (Player vs. Enviroment).

Things are constantly being added. New content such as mobs, bosses and instances. Along with the new expansion pack comes a TON of new features. Flying Mounts are being added which allow you to get to areas where you can only access with flying mounts. Tons of new bosses, weapons and armor.

Its really worth getting. You'll have a lot of fun. I do have my own private server setup, so if you get the game and want to try it before you subscribe online, give me a hollar and I'll give you the information to my server so you can access it.

I'm sure you can find a friend who has the game or bought the game and doesn't play it anymore. So, just steal the discs for a few hours and install it. No CD Key required on install, just required to create an account. So, get it, install it and let me know so I can get you playing!

if its anything like other MMORPG's, then you will only loose experience or w/e you collect from killing other people.

you may also loose weapons and items etc, not too sure tho

i would also like to know, do you you have to pay monthly?

okay, lets say you are an alliance player, and I am horde. If I kill you, you will start at the graveyard as a ghost. You run back to your body and you get the option to resurrect yourself. That brings you back to life at current state. Nothing missing, no starting over. Just picking up where you left off

When something changes such as getting a new item, dieing, killing another npc, it instantly saves. So, nothing is ever unsaved.

and yes simon, it is monthly pay. Although you can change the payment option to ever month, every 6 months or every year. Month payment is $15.

no, its $15 a month...i've been playing for almost a year now

All the player classes, professions, mounts, and races are playable ingame. The bold names such as Alliance and Horde are the factions. Alliance are the good guys, Horde are the bad guys...so they say
