PHPBB2 is free to download. Invision you must purchase to host on your own site.

check out simple machines forum (SMF) http://simplemachine.org

I think it is tons better then phpbb.

Though, unless the site you want to put the forums on is different then the one the WWW button on your profile, you already have PHPBB installed and running, though it looks like it is missing some images for the template.

oh it is amazing.... best feature is the mod installation... all mods can be installed or uninstalled with only 2 or 3 clicks of a button.

I know phpbb has easymod, but I don't think it is as nearly as good as SMF's.

Then sub-forums that can have their own theme.

One of the best mods turns your site into a CMS system.

Check out our site: http://cssquad.com - runs SMF + Tiny portal. Looks almost exactly like a php-nuke

Only draw back to it is that there isn't a module system like php-nuke. So if it wasn't created as a mod for SMF, then it has to run as a stand alone site, such as our vwar...

Though you can create blocks that can contain php-code through admin. I"m trying to hack it some to allow the usage of modules... its taking a while though lol
