Ok, so...
I have an XFX 7900GS in my AMD 2800+ system. The card cost me about $200 and recently the fan started to go out on it. It officially died and started shutting the computer down due to overheating.

So I told everyone in my family to not use the computer until I could get the replacement fan.

One day I needed to have some papers scanned and sent to me via email. Problem was that the scanner was hooked up to that ocmputer. So I called my sister and had her turn the computer on and scan the images, email them and then turn it off.

Evidently my dad saw that she was using the computer and thought it would be ok to use it as well. So he got on yesterday and left the computer on. The computer didn't shut down this time but instead started emitting a smelly odor.

I think my dad has officially fried my $200 card, and I don't think XFX is going to warranty it.

you may be able to send it to them have the repair it, they will judge it

XFX has two option
1.) buy the replacement card
A.) send the broken card to be fix if they deem it not cover they will not refund the money!
b.) but if it is cover by warranty for they will refund the cost to you!

you have to call them about sending it to them and how to get a replacement.

2.) if they say they will repair it they will look it over and judge if you be charge for it too. this is the last option its cheaper then buying a new one.

been there and done it with XFX

with all warranty there is a time limit!
check see if it still cover for!

I can always get a Radeon 3850, they are supposed to be the best AGP cards you can get right now and they are only $150

If the card is still within warranty, I don't see why XFX will nor replace/repair it. It's not your fault if there fan is not up to the job.

Just tell them that you smelt an unpleasant odor coming from there card while you were using your computer.

Make sure you mention there is plenty of airflow though you computer and the air vents are not obstructed.

p.s.
If you do send it back, make sure the fan is not full of dust.

Well the problem is, is the fact that I already submitted a ticket online for a replacement fan that I have been waiting for.

You're right he should be replacing it.

can't blame your father or sister it could have gone bad with in 2sec it was turn-on

can't tell how long it would have gone bad totally thats the thing

now if your father was playing a game and push it were your sister was only printing a item out then you could say he kill it, but how long it would have last no one can say

Yeah that is true, I am not mad at him, more like frustrated.

think you can remove the v-card and run it on mob video chip to do basic things with it scan and print and use the internet. game wise no hard core game but do basic item it will work.

install the video chip you can get new drivers for it from the Cd or MOB MFG site bois update for the video chip for the mob, when you get the replacement video card you can uninstall the video chip then instill the card back in.

uninstall the video card software/drivers then install the video chip drivers/software to the mob
