Df2

Hey guys, I've been trying to play df2 on my dell laptop but to no avail. I have tried all the solutions in the threds but none of them works. The problem is that I can install and run the game fine, but when I go to play the game, the screen doesn't refresh at all (the background music and sfx work though). It just stays on the choose soldier screen. I can play missions by hitting hotkeys or clicking on the right button by chance. I can even join multiplayer games through dffavs and can hear what's going on, the only problem is that the screen stays the same. I tried running in all the compatabilities but still nothing works

You're most likely running one with integrated Intel HD Graphics. I was encountering the same problem with my laptop and finally discovered the solution.

1.) Right-click on your desktop and go to "Graphic Properties."

2.) Navigate to the "Power" tab on the left menu.

3.) Select "Maximum Performance" on the right.

This should get you up and going. Very common problem and this solution has worked for everyone I've suggested it to.

Hmmm. Also ensure that your laptop's power plan (click on the little icon in the lower right of your taskbar) is set to "High Performance."

After that, I'm really not sure. That fixes most peoples' problems.

what windows OS on your laptop?

if i recall right there a dll file (don't recall all the details been a long time) for newer windows to add to it so it know how to handle DF2 (windows 95/Me/2000) and you need Directx 8 install too

you can install older directx in all windows XXXX be no error

basic the game software will search out the directx it needs, all pc games do this

make a shortcut to desktop to DF2 and in the shortcut Prosperity look for Compatibility tap there check box for Compatibility mode then select windows Me or 2000, think windows xp will work too, then click-on apply then ok your done

Maybe a bit late here but...
Set compatibility to:
Windows 98/ME
Disable display scaling on high DPI settings.
