Post unusual sight

just driving back to Sheffield today via the Snake Pass > http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.c...&in.x=1&in.y=7 and there was a very loud noise, looked up and flying veeery low were 2x A-10's


(hehe i didn't snap this pic)

never seen one for real before, vvvery noisy things

They are HUGE Never seen one in the air before but I have one on the ground. They are super cool.

i'm not sure where an RAF base is around here, but there must be one not too far away. iirc in WWII they used the reservoir at the link for practicing the Dambusters Raids

From what i can see on multimap.. RAF Shrewsbury (Helecoptor Trainign School) is the Nearest... BUT DCAE Costford (Another Air Force Base which i happend to be at 2 weeks ago :P) is quite close to that and it actualy has a run way...


The Royal Air Force do not use A-10's, They are USAF.. It was possibaly going to RAF Fairford tho because that is used by the USAF...

u 100% Sure it was a A-10 because i am sure they aint allowed to fly in British Aerospace.... i know Lightning isnt...


The TSR2 Would have OWNED BOTH F16 and A-10 if they made more than 3 :P Oh.. wud of helped if they didnt cost about 10x as much as a Canbra (which it was ment to be replacing)

Maybe speedwise but not in manuverability.

Hmmm... im not actualy sure about that i would have thought it wud be arround Mach 1 / 2 BUT remember when u break throught Atmosphere u have to have a replacement for ur control Surfaces... other wist u gonna carry on going :P

2224.2 mph is how fast it flies. Need to find out how fast a shuttle goes when it takes off.

Yeah it does...it handles much better than a harrier. Go lockhede or however it is spelt.
