EDIT: I'm glad about this contest. It made me realize just how lacking I am in the logo design area. Of course, it didn't help that I didn't actually put anything down on paper (as it were) until the day before, but still. I'm looking forward to the next contest Acid

Ive been studing 'Graphics Designing' in Tafe (wich is like a collage) & the 1st thing we learnt about 'logo' design is "Look at the name of the company & what the company is trying to sell. & then design some sketches on a peice of paper & then eliminate the ones u dont like & work with the final 2-3 & then design it on the computer, when i saw "Digital Media" i thought straight away that it had to be futuristic. so yeh thats how i did it. seems like it worked lol

Acid, I think Skin just means the mode of getting the money to Stevie and Killar, certainly not your integrity. Paypal is wonderful Skin

That's what I tried to do Killar, but I just never could see an actual graphic (like yours). Mine was always just a "tech" looking text. I guess my problem lay in that I had an actual design of a website for the logos I came up with. Together it looked smashing, but I guess separate, it just isn't as great...and it's not. Both you and Stevie's logos are awesome. Like I said, this is just a great opportunity for me to learn this skill. I've already ordered some books from the library

take a look at other famous logos Bullet, i think most are just text rather than a design. of course they are usually a custom font to which makes them unique.

i didnt want to use a font that was copyright protected or free for non commercial use because the logo is for commercial use, so i just used Times Roman and shapes for the actual logo.

i should have checked exactly what the logo was for, i went for a logo that was aimed at to be used on a paper header etc

it also has to be fully scaleable from 1000x1000 to a small size like 50x50 and still look good making the logo a vector is essential to making this possible

Thanks Stevie. I had noticed that a lot were text, which is also why I didn't bother with graphics- it was very convenient, lol. And with the font, I checked the readmes on both, and both said they were free for all types of use, including commercial

But still, in all my logo hunts, many of the ones that I liked had a simple graphic (similar to yours) that made it really stand out. It just brought out a lot of character in the logo. A good example is this one:

I like to learn about anything that will make me a better artist (which is why I started sig design).

EDIT: And what do you mean by vector? This is a new concept for me
