Weirdness
My brother in law and I were playing online over my Wireless Router/Cable modem.
Anyway it has a USB and a RJ-45 jack on it. The network cable goes to my computer. We tried plugging the USB into his computer and we could not play LAN games or Webgames on DF-X with his computer. We connected using wireless and we were able to see his game on the lan screen but when we clicked on connect it got stuck at this one screen. We tried playing online at the same time and we could both join servers but we could not join on that another had hosted.

couple questions as some things aren't fully clear...
1. the cable modem is the one with the rj-45 and the usb jacks right? 2. what is the exact wiring configuration going from device to device? 3. let me get this right...if you are running on the wireless you can join the DFX on the nova servers but you can't join a lan game? answer those and i'll try to help you

1. Yes the cable modem has a router built in so that you can connect the USB and R4-45 to it.
2. Simply RJ-45 to my computer from modem and USB from modem to other computer. 3. Yes, but not with USB. both USB and Ethernet were able to access the internet and see the other computer in the work group.

ok sorry it took me so long to get back to this.
1 & 2. i've never heard of the modem that you've got but assuming it works just like anything else. you can't run both the USBconnection and the RJ-45 connection to your computer at the same time. they will sit there and fight over the connection and that will give you the problems that you are seeing. Use one or the other not both. It's amazing how many clients i run into that are trying to do this. 3. as for why you can't connect on a LAN server that you run my only thought on that is that you don't have the port on your router opened up and while it see's it you can't connect. Open up the right port for your server on the router and it should work fine. hope all that makes sense...

Router brand name??
I think it's matter of static and dynamic IPs. |

Hmm.. that is what I thought with the USB but for some reason we were able to do it with BHD. Maybe we enabled wireless there too.
Oh well. Seems it is working great now, I can see my ME computer on the network which I could never ever get to work. Anywho, we don't play that often, he just has a POC wireless card. We tried a firewire network but it wouldn't work because I think I needed to share the internet so that he could connect to novaworld.
